What I Learnt Switching to More Capable Tyres for Beach and Forest Driving

Initially both vehicles were running standard highway-focused tyres. They worked fine on normal roads. But once beach driving and bush tracks became more common, the limitations became much more obvious. That eventually led to upgrading tyres on both the Kluger AWD and later the Isuzu MU-X. Why I changed the tyres on the Kluger The main reason for upgrading tyres on the Kluger was not extreme off-roading. It was practicality. Why sidewall strength matters One of the biggest concerns with highway tyres is sidewall strength. Standard highway tyres are usually designed primarily for comfort, road driving, and fuel economy. Once bush tracks become rougher, weaker sidewalls can become a concern around sharp rocks, rough edges, and uneven terrain. The stronger all-terrain tyre construction created much more confidence driving forest tracks. What changed after fitting the KO2s The biggest changes after fitting the tyres were: more confidence improved traction ability to air down further improved bush track capability The vehicle simply felt more capable in rougher terrain.
